BREC commended ExxonMobil for receiving a Louisiana Recreation and Park Association Group Citation Award for its support of programs and projects throughout East Baton Rouge Parish area area.
Carl Stages, immediate past LRPA president and BREC Foundation executive director, presented the award June 15 to Angela Zeringue, ExxonMobil Pololefins Plant manager. On hand were Baker Mayor Harold Rideau, an ExxonMobil retiree; Marvin Borgmeyer, BREC Foundation board member and ExxonMobil retiree; Dale Auzenne, BREC assistant superintendent and a past LRPA president; Stephanie Cargile, ExxonMobil public and government affairs manager; and Jason Walker, BREC recreation manager at Greenwood Community Park.
Volunteers from Exxon Excite built park benches along the trail in Greenwood Community Park, making the amenities inviting. The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Fund allows retirees to improve BREC facilities, such as the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center. Financial investment has ensured BREC summer internships in the Recreation department, the Youth 360 after-school program, the Realm of the Tiger exhibit at the Baton Rogue Zoo, the Rockin’ at the Swamp event and many more.
