Summer camp allows children opportunities to engage in healthy activities during the summer, socialize and make new friends, get physical activity away from screens, and make memories!

Youth who were engaged in high quality camps generally reported high levels of belonging, supportive youth-staff relationships, and opportunities for experiential learning
Higher levels of youth reported social awareness, independence, and grit as well as parent-reported higher levels of affinity for nature and willingness to try new things
Youth engaged in high quality camps reported better subsequent school experiences
According to a 2020 study commissioned by Capital Area United Way, 52% of East Baton Rouge households are considered Asset Limited, Income Constrained (ALICE) or in poverty. All donation amounts, large or small, helps support access to quality summer camps. Eligibility: Children are screened for need by eligibility for SNAP benefits.
